International Overdose Awareness Day
August 31, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Due to severe flooding in Historic Ellicott City, the event location has changed.
International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is a global event held on August 31st each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have met with death or permanent injury as a result of drug overdose. Overdose Day spreads the message that the tragedy of overdose death is preventable.
Join us for a public event to remember those who have been lost to Substance Use Disorder via a Candlelight Vigil , to honor those in recovery and to educate others in the magnitude of overdoses.
James’ Place is excited to co-sponsor this first time ever event in Howard County with the the Howard County Health Dept. and Maryland Heroin Awareness Advocates.
Resource Tables open 6:00-7:30 pm; Program 7:30-8:30 pm
